It all started from a friend, a colleague, a peer . . .
From being bored with the same routine, from plateauing time and time again . . .
I wanted to get healthy, I wanted people around me who cared . . .

They called it constantly varied, functional movements, executed at high intensity . . .

It's about taking the first step -

It's called CrossFit and I friggin' love it!

Angels and Demons

It's a chance to get away from the everyday, a chance to move past your comfort zone, it's addictive like crack. . .

Exercise. . .

Not necessarily CrossFit, as most of you thought that was going to be.  CrossFit is addicting, although I will bet that most gymnasts think gymnastics is addicting, Lacrosse players think Lacrosse is addicting, and for all you runners out there, can you say "runner's high"?

We enjoy the state of mind that exercise gives us.  It affords us the opportunity to better ourselves, to reach goals that we may set, to develop character traits that people strive for lifetimes to pursue.  Strength of mind, goal-setting, determination and true grit amongst so many.

We want a Utopia of sorts, hence the CrossFit "Box" as it is affectionately known.  It is our place to appease our minds and develop our souls.  A place where spirits roam free to be what they are, day by day to display our character and revel in accomplishment.  Sweat angels smile lovingly at us, hadn't you known that?  They dissipate quickly only to be replaced by so many more, whisps of air bring them to the ceiling of every box to keep an eye on the next soul in class.

"Pretty sure that angel is smiling. . ."

The next time you see one, you may want to take a glance at the whiteboard to see how that one came about. . .

I think the scary part could be when there is nothing on the floor except a little chalk.  It can change the way you look at what might be coming, could it be that the WOD was so horrible that all the sweat was taken out of the athlete's?  I am kidding, but I have noticed that the days that are brutal are the days when chalk is everyone, sweat angels are mere shadows on the floor and people from one class see others distraught with glee.

And always a smile - the demons are the equipment - the barbells, the weights, the boxes, the rings, the medicine balls, and the like.  Too much to get into any detail.  The devil is in the movements, so much technique, so much power needing to be generated.  We are wanton of so much - to learn, to be better, and we are not satisfied with adequate.  Adequate is a meal that is nutritious, but we want it to taste like a Five-Star Fillet Mignon with Lobster Tails - now that is phenomenal.

Angels and Demons do exist in the CrossFit atmosphere.  The negative nancy is a demon, with no place in that atmosphere.  Angels are the do'ers - the pushers, the pullers, the crowd, the cheer - the one's that make you feel like a million dollars and that every next rep or lift is possible.

"Every man contemplates an angel in his future self."
