It all started from a friend, a colleague, a peer . . .
From being bored with the same routine, from plateauing time and time again . . .
I wanted to get healthy, I wanted people around me who cared . . .

They called it constantly varied, functional movements, executed at high intensity . . .

It's about taking the first step -

It's called CrossFit and I friggin' love it!

It's Time to Take Charge

"Men's best successes come after their disappointments"
- Henry Ward Beecher

It's really hard to take the first step, just based on some situations:

when something is unfamiliar. . .
when something is considered difficult. . . .
when you are challenged. . .
when you doubt. . . .
when you are alone. . .

Getting healthy isn't unfamiliar; diet and exercise. It should not be something for a couple months, it should be the lifestyle change that you want, that you need. Its a journey, and although there are a hundred different paths, CrossFit is our journey, it's the path that we take for life. There are challenging events along the way, some would consider them difficult and our athlete's are challenged mentally and physically. Even in a small period like 5 min or a hour; the events change the way we think, the way we act, our confidence, and make our life that much easier. This ever growing community is like nothing I have ever seen. It's development is all about getting progressively better, similar to the athlete's who participate. We define better as faster, stronger, and confident. The programming is ever changing. One movement learned makes another movement easier. Not many people think that barbells, running, and gymnastics have that much in common, but they can help each other so much.

No one ever said that the path to health had to be done alone, they also never said that the path should be easy. What makes any path easier is when there is a group going in a similar direction. There is nothing quite like a support structure when you are working out. Regardless of the first rep or the last rep of an exercise. There is nothing quite like a Coach who watches your movements, to verify that you are doing something efficiently and effectively. There is something to be said about motivation as well.

You can claim that you don't doubt that you can do something, but when you say you can run a marathon, chances are that 26.1 miles looks a lot longer at the starting line and at mile 19, then when you are sitting talking with your friends about what you are going to do "next summer". The individual only has so much, but bring the crowd, and all of a sudden an individual's competitive spirit will soar. All the things that you wanted to try, but just never got around to doing, here are a list of examples:

a 5k
a triathlon
olympic weightlifting
anything competitive

If you have tried a lifestyle change once, why not try it again? This time try our path, don't worry, we got the coaches, we got the crowd, and they are exciting!

  1. reminds me of a quote i put on our site not too long ago...
"I don't do more, but less, than other people. They do all their work three times over: once in anticipation, once in actuality, once in rumination. I do mine in actuality alone, doing it once instead of three times."
