It all started from a friend, a colleague, a peer . . .
From being bored with the same routine, from plateauing time and time again . . .
I wanted to get healthy, I wanted people around me who cared . . .

They called it constantly varied, functional movements, executed at high intensity . . .

It's about taking the first step -

It's called CrossFit and I friggin' love it!

When the Going Gets Tough

When the going gets tough, we don't just go.  We stick around, something about this group of hard knock  people strives to want to make a difference.  It's not just our workout mentality, we apply what we learn in life.

Like I said, it's not just the workout, although that never ceases to amaze me.  The workouts that we do bring people to a fine line of just crazy, and we do it to ourselves.

We show up everyday, ready to work.  Technique, check.  Preparedness, check.  Perseverance, check.

Think about how difficult workouts were at the beginning, for those of you who have been doing this for awhile.  Now they are harder because there is more weight, you are moving faster, longer or harder.

Don't be discouraged if this is your first time, just because someone moves more weight doesn't mean you won't.  You just have to work to get to that point.

Negativity isn't a friend.  It throws you off your "A" game.  And that game is needed when you want to succeed.  Well, everyone wants to succeed, no one wants to fail, nor will we let you fail.

Dig in for this bumpy ride, double-unders, cleans, and pull-ups are on the menu.  You don't pick your workouts, they pick you.  Everyday you are accosted by the "WOD".  It has the ability to melt you from the inside out.  Your palms get sweaty and your stomach gets crampy just looking at it.

Gotta pee yet?

Don't worry, we'll be waiting outside the bathroom once you've washed your hands and are ready to go.

We want you to be flexible, mobile, strong, fast, and anything else that will make you better.  Strong of body doesn't mean strong of heart and mind.  But I think strong of heart and mind means strong of body.

You know what you are capable of doing, stop second guessing yourself.  Remember, when the going gets tough, this group of mustangs is ready to roll.  So grab the bar, grab the rings, heck - jump on a treadmill, cause taking the first step is the hardest part of moving forward.

Along the way you figure out that there are a myriad of movements that will start to click in your mind, that is called motor control.  Motor control are information processing related activities carried out by the central nervous system that organize the musculoskeletal system to create coordinated movements and skilled actions (sited from wikipedia).  At some point, movements don't become an action of thinking, they become a reaction of what you have to do for the workout.

Don't fight that.

So you will get better, that we have no doubt, it's a matter of time and patience.  Practicing skills and technique.  You're steadfastness pays off - you become graceful.  Even if you don't wanna compete, there are people who will start to look up to you.  At that point, you are a leader - you've worked hard to acquire everything you have.  And even though a workout has the ability to make you tremble, you face it without question or comment - and dominate it with a fierce determination that you never knew you had.

When the going gets tough, we move ahead.
